The proposal to nominate village heads through a political party system has sparked debates regarding neutrality and the interests of the village community. A case in Purworejo in 2022 revealed that hundreds of village officials were affiliated with political parties, indicating political interference in village governance. This situation may undermine the independence of village heads in carrying out their duties and potentially disrupt the primary goal of village administration, which is to ensure the welfare of the entire community without any political bias. This study aims to analyze the nomination of village heads through political parties from the perspective of maslahah mursalah. The research employs a normative juridical method with a statute approach, conceptual approach, and socio-legal approach. This approach is used to examine the existing regulations and understand the social and political impacts of nominating village heads through political parties. By analyzing various legal and social aspects, this study seeks to provide a comprehensive understanding of the consequences of political party involvement in village head elections. The findings indicate that nominating village heads through political parties has the potential to create social polarization, injustice in resource distribution, and a tendency to prioritize political interests over public welfare. Village heads elected through political mechanisms are likely to have loyalty to their supporting parties, which may reduce the effectiveness of village governance and diminish leadership integrity. Dependence on political parties can also trigger conflicts within society and hinder the implementation of policies aimed at collective welfare. Therefore, the village head election system should maintain the principles of independence and neutrality to ensure that village governance remains fair, transparent, and focused on the interests of the community as a whole. By eliminating political party influence in village head elections, it can be ensured that elected leaders are truly committed to improving the welfare of the residents without any political interests involved. %K Pencalonan Kepala Desa, Partai Politik, Maslahah Mursalah, Kepemimpinan Desa, Pemilihan Kepala Desa %D 2025 %I UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA %L digilib71347
