abstract: This thesis is entitled "The Procession of Khatam Al- Qur’an Celebration at TPA Ibtidaiyah II Balai Gurah Nagari Balai Gurah District Ampek Angkek Agam Regency (Analysis of Max Weber's Social Action)." This study aims to see how the procession of the Khatam Al- Qur’an celebration at TPA (Al-Quran Education Park) Ibtidaiyah II Balai Gurah and see how social actions exist in the celebration. Khatam Al- Qur’an is an annual celebration carried out by the community of Balai Gurah as a form of gratitude to students who have completed their studies at TPA. This research is based on the background that every practice in life (in this context the celebration of the khatam Al- Qur’an) in Balai Gurah is inseparable from the social actions of the community, therefore the author will see how the social actions of the community in the celebration are. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method using a sociology approach to religion, with observational data collection techniques, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques in this study include data reduction, data presentation, data verification, and data validity. The actions of the community in this celebration will be analyzed by the author with the typology of Max Weber's theory of social action.
Based on the results of the study, it was found that the celebration of the khatam Al- Qur’an at TPA Ibtiddaiyah II Balai Gurah has several stages such as the preparation stage, the implementation stage, and the post-celebration stage. There are four typologies of social actions in this procession of the Qur'anic khatam celebration, including: First, preparing funding from three months before the implementation day, the formation of a committee with the aim of ensuring that the event is well organized, the decision on student guardian fund contributions that are not included in the prize fee, and the evaluation and dissolution of the committee. Third, rational actions of values include: the implementation of MTQ as an init of celebrations, the procession of slaughtering cows by paying attention to Islamic law, pilgrimages to the graves of religious scholars and teachers as a form of religious values that are upheld, and messages from teachers to students. The four affective actions were asked: the enthusiasm of the people when watching the procession, and the night of receiving the gift which was full of emotion and happiness.
