abstract: This study is motivated by the growing phenomenon of public interest in celebrities. Celebrity worship is a form of parasocial interaction characterized by excessive or unhealthy emotional attachment to celebrities. Self-control plays a crucial role in preventing individuals from becoming overly obsessed with celebrities. Thus, the lower the self-control, the higher the celebrity worship, and vice versa. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between celebrity worship and self-control among the My Day Yogyakarta community. The respondents in this study consisted of 116 members of the My Day community or fans of the band DAY6 in Yogyakarta, aged between 18 and 40 years. The research method used was quantitative with a correlational approach to determine the relationship between the two variables. The sampling technique was accidental sampling, where participants were selected randomly and voluntarily agreed to be respondents. Data collection utilized a modified version of the Celebrity Attitude Scale (CAS) and Self-Control Scale (SCS). The analysis technique employed was Pearson's product-moment correlation using the JASP software. The results indicated that the calculated r-value = -0.131 < table r-value = 0.05 and the p-value = 0.161 > significance level. This indicates that the hypothesis is rejected, meaning there is no significant relationship between celebrity worship and self-control. This may occur because self-control can be influenced by other factors such as age and emotional maturity, resulting in varying levels of self-control among individuals who join the My Day Yogyakarta community.
