This study aims to examine how the influence of government expenditure on education function, minimum wage, population density and poverty rates affect the Human Development Index (HDI) in Sumatra Island. The analysis method used is panel data regression with the Random Effect Model (REM) approach. This study uses secondary data from 10 provinces in Sumatra Island over the period of 2019-2023. From the research results, it can be concluded that minimum wage and population density have a positive and significant effect on HDI, while government expenditure on education function and poverty have a negative and significant effect on HDI in Sumatra Island.
