University students, particularly those in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields, are vulnerable to academic stress, which may trigger such behavior. This study aims to examine whether coping strategies moderate the relationship between academic stress and emotional eating among students of the Faculty of Science and Technology at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. This research employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The sample consisted of 308 students selected using a cluster random sampling technique. The instruments used in this study were the Educational Stress Scale for Adolescents (ESSA), the Coping Inventory for Stressful Situations (CISS-21), and the Dutch Eating Behavior Questionnaire (DEBQ). Data analysis was conducted using moderated regression analysis with the assistance of JAMOVI software. The results showed that there was no significant direct relationship between academic stress and emotional eating. However, one of the three coping strategy dimensions?emotion-focused coping?was found to significantly moderate the relationship (? = 0.1093; p = 0.031). Academic stress only had a significant effect on individuals with high levels of emotion-focused coping. Meanwhile, the other two dimensions, avoidant coping and problem-focused coping, did not show a moderating effect on the relationship.
