This research employed a Quasi-Experimental Design using a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The research population consisted of 10th-grade students at MAN 4 Sleman Yogyakarta. The research sample included 30 students from class XC as the experimental group and 30 students from class XD as the control group, selected using a Purposive Sampling technique. Data on students' active participation were collected using a non-test instrument in the form of an active participation questionnaire based on indicators by Keith Davis. Meanwhile, data on students' critical thinking were collected using a test instrument, specifically pretest and posttest, based on indicators by Facione on conventional biotechnology material. Based on the research findings, it was concluded that: The collaborative Project-Based Learning model was proven effective in enhancing the active participation of 10th-grade students at MAN 4 Sleman, as evidenced by the Mann Whitney U Test results showing a significance value (sig.) of 0,000 {\ensuremath{<}} 0,005; The collaborative Project-Based Learning model was proven effective in improving the critical thinking skills of 10th-grade students at MAN 4 Sleman, as evidenced by the t-test results showing a significance value (sig.) of 0,000 {\ensuremath{<}} 0,005. Therefore, the collaborative Project-Based Learning model is effective in fostering active participation and critical thinking skills in biotechnology material among 10thgrade students at MAN 4 Sleman Yogyakarta.} }
