"This research aimed to determine the effectiveness of applying the collaborative\r\nProject-Based Learning model on students' active participation in biotechnology\r\nmaterial for 10th-grade students at MAN 4 Sleman, and ascertain the effectiveness\r\nof applying the collaborative Project-Based Learning model on students' critical\r\nthinking skills in biotechnology material for 10th-grade students at MAN 4 Sleman.\r\nThis research employed a Quasi-Experimental Design using a Nonequivalent\r\nControl Group Design. The research population consisted of 10th-grade students\r\nat MAN 4 Sleman Yogyakarta. The research sample included 30 students from class\r\nXC as the experimental group and 30 students from class XD as the control group,\r\nselected using a Purposive Sampling technique. Data on students' active\r\nparticipation were collected using a non-test instrument in the form of an active\r\nparticipation questionnaire based on indicators by Keith Davis. Meanwhile, data\r\non students' critical thinking were collected using a test instrument, specifically\r\npretest and posttest, based on indicators by Facione on conventional biotechnology\r\nmaterial. Based on the research findings, it was concluded that: The collaborative\r\nProject-Based Learning model was proven effective in enhancing the active\r\nparticipation of 10th-grade students at MAN 4 Sleman, as evidenced by the Mann\r\nWhitney U Test results showing a significance value (sig.) of 0,000 < 0,005; The\r\ncollaborative Project-Based Learning model was proven effective in improving the\r\ncritical thinking skills of 10th-grade students at MAN 4 Sleman, as evidenced by\r\nthe t-test results showing a significance value (sig.) of 0,000 < 0,005. Therefore,\r\nthe collaborative Project-Based Learning model is effective in fostering active\r\nparticipation and critical thinking skills in biotechnology material among 10thgrade\r\nstudents at MAN 4 Sleman Yogyakarta."^^ .
