"Multiple regression analysis aims to analyze the relationship between\r\ntwo or more variables. One of them is by using the Ordinary\r\nLeast Squares (OLS). OLS aims to minimize errors that are not resistant\r\nto outliers and cause bias and inaccuracy. Robust regression is one\r\nalternative method to overcome this. Robust regression compares two\r\nestimates: M with Andrew weights and Least Trimmed Squares (LTS).\r\nThe M estimate is designed to minimize the influence of data with large\r\nresiduals by replacing the error square function with a loss function that\r\nis more resistant to outliers. Meanwhile, the LTS method uses the principle\r\nof robust regression fitting by minimizing the smallest residual\r\nsquares, i.e., by excluding the largest residuals considered outliers. The\r\nHuman Development Index is one of the important indicators of a country’s\r\nprogress, which is influenced by factors such as health, education,\r\nand the economy. This study aims to analyze the influence of factors related\r\nto community welfare, including expected years of schooling, average\r\nyears of schooling, labor force, labor force participation rate, and\r\nthe number of public hospitals on the Human Development Index. The\r\nresults of the study show that OLS, M estimation, and LTS have RSE\r\nvalues of 1.173, 0.9701, and 1.00035, respectively. M estimation has\r\nthe lowest RSE value compared to the other two estimations.
