The regional ombudsman was born with the encouragement of civil society who continue to prioritize basic right to public services. The role of the Yogyakarta Ombudsman in the Supervision of Public Services in the Yogyakarta city Government Based on Law No 37 of 2008 in the midst of the dynamics of public service providers. The existence of supervisory institutions such as the ombudsman has a very important role the Ombudsman is an external control mechanism that is tasked with supervising the performance of public services and following up on public complaint or complaints. The type of research used is normative legal research assisted by legal research based on field facts and data collection technique using observation, interviews and documentation. This research refers to the theoretical framework of supervision, public services and the principles of alhisbah in Islamic Law to produce a comphrensive a conclusion. The result indicate that ORI DIY has performed its function of overseeing public services through mechanism of receiving public reports, inspections, and providing recommendations. However the provision of recommendations is still constrained by the legal awareness and compliance of the reported agencies.
