This is because love is universal, and certainly, everyone will feel what is called falling in love. Love is often interpreted as a feeling of joy or happiness. However, in essence, there is no definite reference regarding what is called love. This is because love is a feeling experienced by each person, and of course, each person has their own experiences regarding love. The study of love has existed since the time of Greek philosophy. As time has evolved, discussions about love have also developed. In Islamic studies, love is better known by the term Maḥabbah, which is more aligned with the discussion of the concept of divine love. When looking at Islamic literature, there is also a concept of love that leans more towards romantic love. This discussion is found in the concept of love by Ibn Hazm, written in his work titled Ṭawq Al-Ḥamāmah. The discussion in this work, written in 1022 AD, tends to lead towards the concept of romantic love. This contrasts with the discussions that have existed in Islamic studies that generally lean towards divine love. This research becomes important to study in light of the numerous cases of violence occurring in relationships. The concept of love and its ethics as proposed by Ibn Hazm is also a relevant discussion considering how his discourse tends to lead toward the concept of romantic love among individuals. This research will focus on analyzing how the concept of love is understood and examining the concept of the ethics of love from Ibn Hazm in his work entitled Ṭawq Al-Ḥamāmah. The researcher then looks at how Ibn Hazm's concept of love is related to the concept of ethics in general. The aim of this research is to see how Ibn Hazm's concept of love is used as a lens to observe the reality of love in the present time. In addition, the researcher also examines how Ibn Hazm's ethics of love can be viewed through general ethical theory. The researcher examines his ethics of love from the perspective of eudaimonism theory. This research is a literature study with a philosophical approach and uses a descriptive-analytical method to examine the concept of love ethics from Ibn Hazm. The researcher describes the concept of love in general to then analyze it in order to draw conclusions about love ethics. Based on the analysis conducted, the conclusions obtained are as follows: first, Ibn Hazm's concept of love, although it tends to discuss the romantic bonds between humans, does not disregard religious boundaries in its discourse. This can be seen from how the ideal concept of love according to Ibn Hazm is defined. The ideal love according to Ibn Hazm is a relationship forged by two people who have mutual feelings, with no betrayal among them, and where they remain loyal to each other. Additionally, the ideal love is one that is blessed by Allah, so their relationship is facilitated in various aspects such as sustenance and stability. Secondly, Ibn Hazm's concept of love ethics emphasizes the importance of balance between two people who are in love. This is because love is not about unilateral dominance. He also stresses the importance of loyalty in a relationship. Furthermore, those who are in love must consider everything that concerns the beloved, and must always protect and uphold their honor. When viewed as a whole, Ibn Hazm's concept of love ethics is close to the perspective of the eudaimonism school, which posits that the highest goal of life is happiness. date: 2025-06-03 date_type: published pages: 148 institution: UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA department: FAKULTAS USHULUDDIN DAN PEMIKIRAN ISLAM thesis_type: skripsi thesis_name: other citation: Dimas Rangga Sultan Maulana, NIM.: 21105010061 (2025) ETIKA CINTA PERSPEKTIF IBN HAZM DALAM KITAB TAWQ AL-HAMAMAH.
