Religious tolerance itself is not a passive expression, which merely allows differences to exist without participating or taking the initiative to engage in dialogue, but rather an active and progressive activity by all members of society. Furthermore, religious tolerance is not interpreted narrowly as limited to theology or normativism alone, but involves everything that is explicit and implicit in religion. In this context, the researcher examines the maintenance of religious tolerance in Jungjang Village, Arjawinangun District, Cirebon Regency, using G.H. Mead's symbolic interaction approach. The research used a descriptive qualitative approach with a field study method, combining or comparing various data collection techniques, including in-depth interviews, direct observation, and analysis of documentation or archives. This method was chosen to gain a holistic and comprehensive understanding of maintaining religious tolerance through symbolic interaction studies. The analytical tool or framework used is the symbolic interaction theory formulated by G.H. Mead. This theory is employed to reduce and analyze how tolerance is internalized and symbolic interaction is externalized by the community of Jungjang Village. The results of this study show and indicate that religious tolerance has become an integral and inherent part of all communities in Jungjang Village. According to the community, awareness of tolerance needs to be nurtured and maintained together. Comprehensively, the form of religious tolerance in Jungjang Village is semi-active, which can be seen from the community's efforts to nurture it. G.H. Mead's perspective shows that efforts to maintain religious tolerance are carried out effectively and efficiently, influenced by thoughts, the self, and society. Thought plays a central role in formulating symbols or actions, and the self has the ability to control every situation, even though circumstances often change. According to Mead, when individuals function well, societal construction will run smoothly and mutually benefit both small communities and society as a whole. %K Merawat Toleransi, Interaski Simbolik, G.
