abstract: Sexual violence in Indonesia continues to increase every year. Data from the 2023 National Commission on Violence Against Women (Komnas Perempuan) Annual Report (Catahu) recorded 287,741 cases occurring in the personal sphere. This data indicates that public understanding of gender discourse is still minimal. Media, as agents of discourse dissemination, play a significant role in highlighting sexual violence cases, but unfortunately, mainstream media often lack a good gender perspective, as their reporting remains sexist towards women. Lpm Lintas, as an alternative press within IAIN Ambon, reported sexual violence cases occurring on its campus in the magazine IAIN Ambon Rawan Pelecehan Seksual (IAIN Ambon Prone to Sexual Harassment). This research uses Sara Mills' discourse analysis and Gramsci's media hegemony theory. Through the positioning of subject-object and reader's position in this reporting, victims are depicted as subjects who are powerful over the sexual harassment incidents they experience. Lpm Lintas discourses the resistance and empowerment of sexual violence victims. Victims in this discourse are not only women but also men can be victims of sexual violence. Sexual harassment occurs due to power relations exploited by perpetrators against victims, even if the perpetrators are religious figures and in an Islamic environment. Thus, Lpm Lintas becomes a counter-hegemony to the widespread reporting that marginalizes sexual violence victims and to the notion that Islamic campuses are safe from sexual violence.
