Transition to a new environment can cause culture shock or cultural shock which will result in reduced students' ability to analyze the academic environment in the PAI master's program, this can have a negative impact on student learning outcomes. So to overcome culture shock, students must have good adaptation, considering the great pressure of academic culture in the PAI master's program environment which requires analytical skills and critical thinking in depth, in adapting students not only need intellectual intelligence but also emotional intelligence, where according to Daniel Golamen emotional intelligence contributes 80% compared to intellectual intelligence which is only 20% in helping someone achieve success. This study uses a type of qualitative research that is descriptive interpretive. This study uses a phenomenological approach. The subjects of this study were determined using the snowball sampling technique, namely PAI master's students class of 2024/2025 and PAI master's study program managers. Data collection techniques use observation, interview and documentation techniques. Data analysis used with data reduction, data display and verification of conclusions. Data validity techniques use triangulation techniques. The results of this study conclude that: first, the academic culture in the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) master's program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta reflects the integration-interconnection between Islamic scientific values, the spirit of intellectualism, and an inclusive attitude in academic interactions, students are required not only to master the material theoretically, but also to be able to develop critical thinking skills, interact ethically, and demonstrate a professional attitude in academic activities.
