"This research is important to see the phenomenon of student diversity in\r\nYogyakarta, according to a survey by Bank Indonesia, the Yogyakarta\r\nrepresentative office stated that there are 357,000 > students in this city, of that\r\nnumber, around 274,000 students come from outside the region, at least 73% of\r\nstudents from outside the Yogyakarta area continue their education at universities,\r\none of which is in the Islamic Religious Education Masters program with a student\r\ndiversity rate of 93% for the 2024/2025 academic year. Transition to a new\r\nenvironment can cause culture shock or cultural shock which will result in reduced\r\nstudents' ability to analyze the academic environment in the PAI master's program,\r\nthis can have a negative impact on student learning outcomes. So to overcome\r\nculture shock, students must have good adaptation, considering the great pressure\r\nof academic culture in the PAI master's program environment which requires\r\nanalytical skills and critical thinking in depth, in adapting students not only need\r\nintellectual intelligence but also emotional intelligence, where according to Daniel\r\nGolamen emotional intelligence contributes 80% compared to intellectual\r\nintelligence which is only 20% in helping someone achieve success.\r\nThis study uses a type of qualitative research that is descriptive interpretive.\r\nThis study uses a phenomenological approach. The subjects of this study were\r\ndetermined using the snowball sampling technique, namely PAI master's students\r\nclass of 2024/2025 and PAI master's study program managers. Data collection\r\ntechniques use observation, interview and documentation techniques. Data analysis\r\nused with data reduction, data display and verification of conclusions. Data validity\r\ntechniques use triangulation techniques.\r\nThe results of this study conclude that: first, the academic culture in the\r\nIslamic Religious Education (PAI) master's program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga\r\nYogyakarta reflects the integration-interconnection between Islamic scientific\r\nvalues, the spirit of intellectualism, and an inclusive attitude in academic\r\ninteractions, students are required not only to master the material theoretically, but\r\nalso to be able to develop critical thinking skills, interact ethically, and demonstrate\r\na professional attitude in academic activities. Second, student adaptation to the\r\nacademic culture in the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) master's program at UIN\r\nSunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta shows a dynamic and complex process, where students\r\ntry to adjust to high academic demands, scientific mindsets, and applicable\r\nacademic ethics, students are gradually able to develop adaptability, both in\r\nemotional management, academic communication, and active participation in\r\ndiscussions and research."^^ .
