M.Hum abstract: This research aims to examine how Muslim transmigrant farmers from Java in South Sumatra Province practice reciprocity and cooperation in their social and economic lives. The main focus of the study includes the forms of reciprocity that have developed among the farmers, patterns of cooperation in agricultural activities, communitybased economic strategies, and the relevance of these practices from the perspective of Islamic economics. This qualitative study adopts a theoretical approach grounded in reciprocity and Islamic economics. Data collection methods include observation, participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Fieldwork was conducted directly with Javanese Muslim transmigrant farmers. Data were analyzed using a strategic analysis approach, followed by data reduction, data display, and data verification. The findings reveal that reciprocity among farmers involves not only the exchange of services or assistance but also reflects strong values of solidarity and togetherness. All agricultural activities, such as harvesting, land management, and the distribution of agricultural produce, are driven by a spirit of mutual cooperation. This collaboration, motivated by shared needs and a sense of social responsibility, contributes to a more effective and sustainable agricultural system. Research findings show that reciprocity among farmers not only involves the exchange of services or assistance but also reflects strong values of solidarity and togetherness. All agricultural activities such as harvesting, land management, and the distribution of agricultural produce are driven by the spirit of mutual cooperation. Ultimately, this collaboration, motivated by shared needs and a sense of social responsibility, results in a more effective and sustainable agricultural system. From the perspective of Islamic economics, the farmers’ practices reflect the principles of ta'awun (mutual assistance), ukhuwah (brotherhood), and distributive justice. The reciprocitybased economic model functions both as an economic tool and as a social mechanism that strengthens bonds among Javanese Muslim transmigrant farmers. Consequently, Islamic values and local culture are integrated to produce a model of equitable economic development. This reflects the synergy between religious teachings and local wisdom in building a sustainable economic system. Ultimately, the study demonstrates that an economic approach grounded in Islamic values and the local culture of Javanese Muslim transmigrant farmers can serve as an alternative model for inclusive and human-centered rural economic development. date: 2025-07-07 date_type: published pages: 302 institution: UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA department: PASCASARJANA thesis_type: doctoral thesis_name: other citation: Muharir, NIM.: 22300011006 (2025) RESIPROSITAS PADA PETANI MUSLIM TRANSMIGRAN ASAL JAWA TELAAH TERHADAP STRATEGI PENGUATAN EKONOMI DALAM BENTUK KERJA SAMA BIDANG PERTANIAN PERSPEKTIF EKONOMI ISLAM PROVINSI SUMATERA SELATAN.
