Yaser Arafat, M.A. abstract: Shalawat Jawa Madyo Laras is a shalawatan tradition that grew in the Kagungan Dalem environment of the Sambisari Mosque, as a form of acculturation of Islamic culture and Javanese tradition. This shalawat is still used in various activities, such as religious events, traditional ceremonies, and even invitations to celebrations. The presence of this shalawat is a manifestation of love for the Prophet Muhammad SAW in the form of a local tradition. Amidst the dominance of Middle Eastern shalawat and the rapid flow of modernization, the existence of this shalawat faces serious challenges, especially in maintaining its existence among the younger generation. The main problem raised in this study is how the cultural resilience of Shalawat Jawa Madyo Laras is and how this tradition is passed on to the next generation. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study type. Data collection techniques include in-depth interviews with the muse of Shalawat Shalawat Jawa Madyo Laras, representatives of the management and three members of the Madyo Laras Art and Culture Association, the Head of Sambisari Hamlet and the last heir of the Melikan shalawat, participatory observation of religious activities and art performances as well as visual documentation and supporting archives. Data were analyzed through the process of data reduction, data display and data verification. Two main concepts are used in this study, namely the concept of cultural resilience to see the resilience of tradition, and the concept of cultural inheritance to examine the mechanism of conveying tradition to the next generation. The results of the study indicate that the cultural resilience of Shalawat Jawa Madyo Laras is supported by two main factors. Internal factors come from the sustainability of the community that actively appears in various events and carries out regeneration. External factors include support from the Sleman Regency Cultural Service and participation in festivals and competitions. In its inheritance, two main processes are used, namely socialization and enculturation, and three inheritance models: vertical, oblique, and horizontal. The vertical inheritance model has proven to be the most effective because it has occurred naturally since childhood in the family environment. The challenges faced are the dominance of Middle Eastern shalawat and time constraints. For this reason, a sustainability strategy is carried out by inviting the younger generation to various events, utilizing digital media and arranging flexible schedules. date: 2025-06-18 date_type: published pages: 105 institution: UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA department: FAKULTAS USHULUDDIN DAN PEMIKIRAN ISLAM thesis_type: skripsi thesis_name: other citation: Iman Siyatur Rasyidah, NIM.: 21105040006 (2025) RESILIENSI KULTURAL SHALAWAT JAWA MADYO LARAS DALAM MENGHADAPI PERUBAHAN ZAMAN (STUDI KASUS DI KAGUNGAN DALEM MASJID SAMBISARI, PURWOMARTANI, KALASAN, SLEMAN, D.I YOGYAKARTA).
