The wasilah referred to here includes the Beautiful Names of Allah (asmaul husna), righteous deeds, the prayers of righteous people, or supplicating to Him through the status and rights of human beings, whether living or deceased. In practice, there are various differences of opinion among scholars due to differing interpretations of Quranic verses and the Prophet’s hadiths. Generally, there are two main groups in their view of tawasul. The first group permits all forms of tawasul, provided certain conditions are met to avoid acts of shirk. This understanding is written by the scholar Hasyim Asyari in his book. Meanwhile, the second group understands that the practice of tawasul must be in accordance with the verses of the Quran and the strong Sunnah. They believe that tawasul practices other than these three are bidah because there are no verses in the Quran or Sunnah as a basis for performing such tawasul. One such understanding is that of Nasiruddin al-Albani. Therefore, this study examines the quality of hadith and the understanding of the two figures mentioned above regarding tawasul. This study focuses on a comparative analysis of the two figures’ understanding of the quality of hadith and their interpretation of tawasul practices. This study employs a qualitative approach with a literature review (Library Research) methodology. The technique used is documentation, which involves collecting data from various sources, including tafsir and hadith books, articles, and studies relevant to the research topic. The focus of the hadith evaluation research is limited to four hadith narrations: those of al-Hakim, at-Tirmizi, ad-Darimi, and Abi Syaibah, as well as their understanding of the practice of tawasul. The results of the study show that there are differences in assessing the quality of hadith. Hasyim assesses several accounts of tawasul as authentic hadith, such as the accounts of al-Hakim, at-Tirmizi, Ibnu Abi Syaibah, and ad-Darimi. Unlike al-Albani, he weakened some hadiths due to flaws in the narrations, such as those of al-Hakim, ad-Darimi, and Abi Syaibah. In understanding the practice of tawasul, both agree on three forms of tawasul: through the Beautiful Names of Allah, righteous deeds, and the prayers of righteous people who are still alive. The difference in their understanding lies in the practice of tawasul through the nobility, rights, and status of a living or deceased person. Hasyim agrees with this as long as the means used is not considered higher than Allah, to avoid the act of shirk. Unlike al-Albani, he rejects this form of tawasul because it does not align with sharia and the Sunnah, and violates His rulings. The factors behind the differences include differing backgrounds, ideologies, understandings of bidah practices, methodologies, and assessments of hadith quality, as well as differing views on religious traditions and the consensus of scholars. date: 2025-07-01 type: Thesis type: NonPeerReviewed format: text language: id identifier: https://digilib.uin-suka.ac.id/id/eprint/72254/1/21105050062_BAB-I_IV-atau-V_DAFTAR-PUSTAKA.pdf format: text language: id identifier: https://digilib.uin-suka.ac.id/id/eprint/72254/2/21105050062_BAB-II_sampai_SEBELUM-BAB-TERAKHIR.pdf identifier: Ramadhan, NIM.: 21105050062 (2025) ANALISIS HADIS TAWASUL (STUDI KOMPARATIF PEMAHAMAN HASYIM ASY’ARI DAN NASIRUDDIN AL-ALBANI).
