"The development of science and technology has brought\r\nabout a significant impact of the diversity pattern shift of\r\nmadrasah (Islamic School) students from both urban and rural\r\nareas. This research aims to analyse these differences and\r\nsimilarities of the diversity patterns of the students of MTs\r\nMuallimin Bangkinang and MTsN 8 Kampar, representing urban\r\nand rural pupils respectively; to examine the process of religious\r\nvalue internalization; to identify the factors influencing the\r\nstudent diversity; and to formulate a contextual strategy for\r\ndiversity attitude development.\r\nApplying a phenomenological design, this qualitative\r\nstudy collected data through participative observation, in-depth\r\ninterview, and documentation technics. The headmasters, the\r\nvice headmasters for curriculum, Islam Education teachers, and\r\nthe students’ parents were the informants of the study. The\r\ncollected data were validated using triangulation of sources and\r\ntechnics, while data analysis was carried out interactively\r\nthrough condensation, display, and conclusion\r\ndrawing/verification.\r\nThe results show that: first, different diversity patterns\r\nbetween urban and rural students appears in five dimensions:\r\nideological, ritualistic, intellectual, spiritual, and consequent.\r\nStudents of urban areas show a more structured diversity pattern,\r\ninvolving formal institutions and a well-organized religious\r\nprogram,, while rural pupils, by contrast, rely more on traditional\r\nvalues and social-cultural bond. Yet, the two share similarity in\r\ntheir active participation in religious activities and spirit\r\nthroughout the schools. Second, the process of religious value\r\ninternalization occurs in three steps: transformation, transaction,\r\nand trans-internalization of values. Third: the diversity supports\r\ncomprise teacher’s exemplary, religious environment of the\r\nschools, and family. However, family weak-habituation, digital\r\nmedia influence, and limited intensive-companionship remain\r\nserious obstacles. Fourth: the strategy applied by MTs Muallimin Bangkinang pinpoints a curriculum integration and spiritual\r\nevaluation, whilst MTsN 8 Kampar emphasizes the synergy of\r\nthe madrasah, family and community.
