description: Santri's adaptability is one of the important factors in the success of language programs in Dayah. This study aims to examine the influence of alternating bilingual usage (English and Arabic) on the cognitive, emotional, and physical abilities of santri, as well as the challenges and adaptation strategies employed by santri in the weekly language-switching program at Dayah Darul Ihsan Abu Hasan Krueng Kalee.  This research employs a phenomenological approach with a qualitative method through semi-structured interviews with nine Dayah students, consisting of three male and six female students. Data analysis was conducted using Nvivo software and Miles and Huberman's interactive approach, which involves data reduction, data display, and verification/conclusion drawing.  The results of the study indicate that the alternating use of two languages presents significant challenges for santri, particularly in cognitive, emotional, and physical aspects. Cognitively, the students face difficulties in understanding grammar and new vocabulary. Emotionally, anxiety and lack of self-confidence are the main obstacles, while physically, fatigue due to the program's intensity affects their health. However, santri employ various adaptation strategies, such as repetitive practice, social support, and creating a relaxed learning environment to overcome these challenges.
