%T BEHAVIORAL MODIFICATION TERHADAP SISWA DISABILITAS DENGAN PROBLEMATIC SEXUAL BEHAVIOR DI SLBN MAGELANG
%X Problematic Sexual Behavior (PSB) among students with intellectual disabilities
poses a critical yet often overlooked challenge in special education. Such behaviors
may emerge due to cognitive limitations, impaired impulse control, and the lack of
developmentally appropriate sex education. This study aims to explore the
effectiveness of behavioral modification techniques in reducing PSB among
students at SLBN Magelang, Indonesia. Using a qualitative case study approach,
data were collected through in-depth interviews with special education teachers and
analyzed thematically. The findings reveal that an integrative intervention strategy
including positive reinforcement, controlled punishment, extinction, shaping, and
scaffolding significantly reduced PSB and improved students’ adaptive behaviors.
The effectiveness of these techniques increased when tailored to individual needs
and accompanied by active parental involvement. The results emphasize the
importance of empathetic, context-sensitive interventions that address not only
behavioral symptoms but also the underlying psychosocial needs of students. The
study recommends developing structured intervention protocols, continuous
teacher training, and sustained family engagement to ensure the long-term success
of behavioral programs in special education settings
