However, the results of national and international assessments such as PISA and AN reveal that Indonesian students still experience difficulties in understanding, specifically, and reflecting on the information they read. This study aims to develop digital pop-up book media within the context of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in Phase C of Science and Social Subjects for elementary school and Islamic elementary school students. The specific objectives of this study include: (1) describing the process of developing a digital pop-up book media in the context of ESD, (2) analyzing the quality of developing a digital pop-up book media in the context of ESD, and (3) testing the effectiveness of the digital pop-up book media in the context of ESD. This study used the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The subjects consisted of validation instrument experts, media experts, material experts, language experts, and four validity instrument experts. The empirical validity test involved 28 students from MIN 1 Yogyakarta, while the effectiveness test involved 65 fifth-grade students from one elementary school and one Islamic elementary school in Yogyakarta, and 10 teachers as product evaluators. Data collection was carried out through observation, interviews, questionnaires, documentation, and tests. Data were analyzed using qualitative and quantitative descriptive techniques. Qualitative data were analyzed using interactive techniques from the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana models and data triangulation. Meanwhile, quantitative data used the Rasch Model and Aiken’s V for instrument validation, including paired sample t-test and N-Gain test to test the effectiveness of the digital pop-up book media in the context of ESD. The results of this study indicate that: (1) the process of developing digital pop-up book media with an ESD context successfully produced a product that meets the needs and characteristics of students, (2) digital pop-up book media with an ESD context has very good quality with an average score of 93.66%, (3) digital pop-up book media with an ESD context was proven to be effective in increasing reading literacy and sustainability awareness of phase C elementary school/Islamic elementary school students, as seen in the significance value of the paired sample t-test obtained a Sig. (2-tailed) of 0.000 < 0.05. The N-Gain results for overall reading literacy and sustainability awareness obtained scores of 0.62 and 0.74, which are included in the moderate effectiveness category. %Z Dr. Paed Asih Widi Wisudawati, S.Pd., M.Pd.
