The main focus of the study is on the process of preachers in searching for, processing, and delivering religious information. The purpose of the study is to explain how religious understanding is formed through information literacy and to identify emerging literacy patterns. This study formulates two questions: How is religious understanding among preachers formed through information literacy at the Majelis Ngangsu Kaweruh, and what are the patterns of information literacy practiced by these preachers? Using a qualitative case study approach and The Big Six model, this research argues that the information literacy process of preachers is not only technical in nature but also reflects communication patterns, pesantren traditions, and responses to the limited access to religious sources in rural communities. The results of the study show that the religious understanding process of the preachers takes place through systematic stages: from identifying information needs, search strategies, access, processing, synthesis, to evaluation. Four patterns of information literacy were found: systematic and continuous patterns, communicative participation patterns, traditional and hybrid literacy patterns, and pesantren-based literacy patterns. These patterns show a relationship between local religious traditions, the use of digital resources, and contextual approaches in conveying religious teachings. The conclusion of this study states that information literacy plays a crucial role in shaping the religious understanding of preachers, while also playing a role in maintaining religious authority and preventing the fragmentation of Islamic information in society. This study also shows that The Big Six approach is relevant to be applied in the context of informal religious education to understand information literacy practices in depth.
