abstract: This study aims to analyze the role of KUD Tani Makmur in the economic development of Tirtonirmolo Village, as well as the strategies employed to maintain its existence amid competition with large corporations. The research addresses a gap in previous studies, which generally discuss cooperatives in a broad context, while examinations of adaptation and innovation strategies in high-performing village cooperatives remain limited. KUD Tani Makmur was selected as the research subject because it won the National Village Cooperative Award in 2023 and has shown positive performance despite challenges from modernization and retail competition. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, with data collected through field research consisting of interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis applied Jhingan’s economic development theory, Rostow’s stages of growth, and Wheelen and Hunger’s strategic management framework.
The findings reveal that KUD Tani Makmur plays a significant role in improving community welfare, developing infrastructure, enhancing human resources, and increasing access to healthcare services. Its programs include SPH, WASERDA, SAPROTAN, TABUR PUJA, and support for local MSMEs. The strategies implemented involve environmental scanning, program formulation, implementation, evaluation, and control, along with efforts in digitalization and business diversification. In conclusion, KUD Tani Makmur has managed to sustain its relevance and contribution to the local economy, despite challenges such as suboptimal social media management.
