N2  - Interfaith harmony is a fundamental pillar in creating a peaceful and harmonious social life within Indonesia?s pluralistic society. With its diverse religious, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds, the country often faces challenges in maintaining tolerance and peace. One of the key elements in preserving this harmony is the presence of effective communication between religious leaders and their communities, as well as among followers of different religions. Religious leaders, with their moral authority and social influence, have the capacity to act as bridges of dialogue, strengthening interfaith understanding, reducing potential conflicts, and fostering closer relationships between religious communities. Interfaith communication is understood as a process of interaction and dialogue among people of different religions aimed at finding common ground and building mutual understanding to live in peace, harmony, and mutual respect within diversity.
This research uses a qualitative approach to explore and describe the process of interfaith communication in maintaining harmony in Desa Pabuaran, Kabupaten Bogor, with the aim of creating a peaceful and comfortable environment. The primary data sources in this study are religious leaders and community members in Desa Pabuaran, supported by secondary data from social media, journals, and books. Data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation.
The results of this study show that in maintaining interfaith harmony in Desa Pabuaran, religious leaders utilize various effective forms of communication. Interpersonal communication both verbal and nonverbal is used in interactions among religious leaders. Meanwhile, in delivering messages of harmony to the public, they apply public communication and persuasive communication strategies to build collective awareness and understanding. At the community level, interfaith interaction is primarily carried out through group communication, providing a platform for shared dialogue. These forms of communication play a crucial role in establishing and preserving a harmonious social atmosphere in Desa Pabuaran. Furthermore, both religious leaders and residents demonstrate active roles in maintaining harmony through empathy, mutual support, respectful language, and a peaceful communicative attitude. These efforts contribute significantly to sustaining a peaceful, secure, and harmonious environment amid religious diversity in Desa Pabuaran.
