One of the educational institutions that focuses on independence is the Islamic boarding school. This study aims to determine the role of Kiai in forming the independence of broken home students at the Integrated Islamic Boarding School Darussyifa Al-Fithroh Sukabumi. This study uses a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques in the form of direct observation, interviews and documentation were obtained from several informants, namely: (1) Kiai of the Integrated Islamic Boarding School Darussyifa Al-Fithroh; (2) Headmaster of SMP IT; (3) Dormitory supervisor; (4) Broken home students. The testing technique in determining the validity of the data is using source triangulation. The data analysis method uses reduction and categorization, data presentation, and drawing conclusions or verification. The results of this study are that the Kiai of the Darussyifa Al-Fithroh Integrated Islamic Boarding School has an important role in the formation of student independence. The role of the kiai as a leader/caretaker of the boarding school, as a teacher and as a central figure, the researcher poured into several methods carried out by the kiai in the formation of independence, namely (1) the method of protection and affection, namely the kiai becomes a substitute parent for the students and provides affection and a sense of security so that the students feel comfortable and happy. (2) The method of strengthening with worship, the kiai carries out conditioning with ubudiyah activities at the Islamic boarding school. (3) The exemplary method, namely the kiai becomes a role model for the students so that the students model the kiai in various aspects. (4) The method of giving advice, namely the kiai fills the students' cognitive with positive things and independent life. And (5) Method of habituating the kiai as an enforcer of discipline in daily activities with a series of activities that foster independence and rules along with rewards and punishments that apply and are carried out consistently. %K Broken Home, Peran Kiai, Kemandirian %D 2025 %I UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA %L digilib72546
