"This research aims to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the implementation of\r\nLiteracy and STEAM-based learning at TK ABA Kenaji, Sleman, D.I.Yogyakarta, and to\r\nevaluate its impact on improving the cognitive abilities of children aged 5-6 years. The study\r\nis underpinned by the critical role of early childhood education (ECE) as a fundamental\r\nstage in child development, as stipulated by Indonesian Law No. 20 of 2003 on the National\r\nEducation System, which mandates ECE prior to primary school. This Merdeka curriculum\r\nemphasizes the development of soft skills and student character, fostering the Pancasila\r\nStudent Profile, and granting educators flexibility to design high-quality learning\r\nexperiences tailored to children's needs. A core element of the Merdeka Curriculum's\r\nlearning outcomes at the ECE level is the foundational aspects of Literacy and STEAM\r\n(Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics), perceived as an innovative approach\r\nto cultivate children's literacy interest and exploratory spirit. Literacy, in this context,\r\nextends beyond mere reading and writing; it encompasses verbal and nonverbal language\r\nskills, a love for books, and a strong curiosity for exploration, all of which positively impact\r\nchildren's personal and social lives. Meanwhile, STEAM modernizes education by\r\nintegrating various disciplines to train children's problem-solving mindsets, foster curiosity,\r\nand encourage risk-taking through practical, active, and daily-life relevant activities.\r\nThe research employs a descriptive qualitative analytical methodology, with data\r\ncollected through participatory observation, documentation, and in-depth interviews with\r\nthe headmaster and class teachers at TK ABA Kenaji. Data analysis involved data reduction,\r\ndata display, and conclusion drawing/verification, further validated through source and\r\ntechnique triangulation to ensure the credibility of the findings.\r\nThe findings indicate that the implementation of Literacy and STEAM-based learning\r\nat TK ABA Kenaji is able to improving children's cognitive abilities. This is evidenced by\r\nthe children's development in logical thinking, recognizing shapes, letters, and colors,\r\ncategorizing objects, and problem-solving skills. This approach also fosters curiosity and\r\nexploration in children. The implemented learning aligns with the developmental\r\ncharacteristics of early childhood, providing children with opportunities to explore and\r\nsolve simple problems through integrated activities such as storytelling, simple science\r\nexperiments, block building, and other educational games.
