%A NIM.: 19104030060 Fawaza Habafillah %O Dr. Hibana, S.Ag., M.Pd. %T IMPLEMENTASI PEMBELAJARAN BERBASIS LITERASI DAN STEAM DALAM MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN KOGNITIF ANAK USIA 5-6 TAHUN (STUDI KASUS TK ABA KENAJI SLEMAN D.I.YOGYAKARTA) %X This research aims to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the implementation of Literacy and STEAM-based learning at TK ABA Kenaji, Sleman, D.I.Yogyakarta, and to evaluate its impact on improving the cognitive abilities of children aged 5-6 years. The study is underpinned by the critical role of early childhood education (ECE) as a fundamental stage in child development, as stipulated by Indonesian Law No. 20 of 2003 on the National Education System, which mandates ECE prior to primary school. This Merdeka curriculum emphasizes the development of soft skills and student character, fostering the Pancasila Student Profile, and granting educators flexibility to design high-quality learning experiences tailored to children's needs. A core element of the Merdeka Curriculum's learning outcomes at the ECE level is the foundational aspects of Literacy and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics), perceived as an innovative approach to cultivate children's literacy interest and exploratory spirit. Literacy, in this context, extends beyond mere reading and writing; it encompasses verbal and nonverbal language skills, a love for books, and a strong curiosity for exploration, all of which positively impact children's personal and social lives. Meanwhile, STEAM modernizes education by integrating various disciplines to train children's problem-solving mindsets, foster curiosity, and encourage risk-taking through practical, active, and daily-life relevant activities. The research employs a descriptive qualitative analytical methodology, with data collected through participatory observation, documentation, and in-depth interviews with the headmaster and class teachers at TK ABA Kenaji. Data analysis involved data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification, further validated through source and technique triangulation to ensure the credibility of the findings. The findings indicate that the implementation of Literacy and STEAM-based learning at TK ABA Kenaji is able to improving children's cognitive abilities. This is evidenced by the children's development in logical thinking, recognizing shapes, letters, and colors, categorizing objects, and problem-solving skills. This approach also fosters curiosity and exploration in children. The implemented learning aligns with the developmental characteristics of early childhood, providing children with opportunities to explore and solve simple problems through integrated activities such as storytelling, simple science experiments, block building, and other educational games.
