This study aims to redesign the production layout of UMKM Slondok Jangkang Emas using the Systematic Layout Planning (SLP) and Computerized Relative Allocation of Facilities Technique (CRAFT) methods. The SME currently faces inefficiencies in material flow due to long distances between workstations and a layout that does not follow the production sequence, resulting in longer processing times and higher material handling costs. With an average weekly production of 400 kg, the SME is unable to meet the market demand of 677.5 kg, creating a shortfall of 277.5 kg, or around 41%. By applying the SLP method, an alternative layout was developed that reduced material travel distance by 222.24 meters and improved production efficiency by 15.33%. The CRAFT method was then used to computationally test and optimize the best alternative, showing a potential reduction in material handling costs of up to 17.9% under ideal conditions without physical constraints. The redesigned layout lowered material handling costs from IDR 287,057 to IDR 243,065 per production cycle, while enhancing the SME?s production efficiency and capacity without requiring significant expansion. These results offer a practical solution for SMEs aiming to improve competitiveness and responsiveness to market demand in the local snack industry.
