"Cyberbullying is a serious digital threat that requires automated\r\ndetection. Machine Learning (ML) and Natural Language Processing\r\n(NLP) offer solutions, but their performance is significantly affected by\r\nthe combination of preprocessing methods, vectorization, and\r\nclassification algorithms. This study systematically compares these\r\ncombinations to identify the optimal configuration due to the lack of a\r\nholistic approach. The preprocessing methods used include stopword\r\nremoval, stemming, lemmatization with a one-hot vectorizer, BoW, TFIDF,\r\nand Logistic Regression, SVM, KNN, Decision Tree, and Naive\r\nBayes algorithms for cyberbullying text classification. The goal is to\r\nfind the most effective combination of methods based on standard\r\nperformance metrics.\r\nThe approach used is a comparative, quantitative, experimental\r\napproach, using a labeled English-language cyberbullying dataset.\r\nData preprocessing was performed before vectorization and then\r\ntrained using a classification algorithm. Performance was rigorously\r\nevaluated using accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score. Therefore,\r\nthis holistic approach yielded the highest results among the various\r\ncombinations.\r\nThe results show that preprocessing significantly improves\r\nperformance, with lemmatization generally outperforming. One-Hot\r\nEncoding yielded the lowest results, while TF-IDF was the most\r\neffective vectorizer. Among the algorithms, SVM and Logistic\r\nRegression performed best, with SVM demonstrating excellent\r\nperformance, especially with TF-IDF. The optimal combination was\r\nobtained when using stopword removal, TF-IDF, and SVM, achieving\r\nan F1-score of 0.863. The lowest combination result, 0.155, was\r\nobtained when using no preprocessing, one-hot encoding\r\nvectorization, and the KNN algorithm.
