Islam stipulates that animals may be consumed as halal if they are slaughtered in accordance with Sharia, namely by severing the hulqum and mari?, reciting the basmalah, and treating the animal in a good manner without causing unnecessary suffering. With the advancement of time, slaughtering methods have evolved with the introduction of modern technology, one of which is stunning{--}rendering animals unconscious using an electric current before slaughter. This method is considered more efficient and capable of reducing pain and stress in animals, yet it has sparked differing views among contemporary scholars. Among those who have addressed this issue are Yusuf al-Qaradawi, who permits slaughter using the stunning method under certain conditions, and Shalih bin Fauzan, who rejects it on the grounds that it contradicts Sharia principles. This thesis employs library research, which focuses on comparing the opinions of Yusuf al-Qaradawi and Shalih bin Fauzan. The research is based on a literature study of primary and secondary works from both scholars. The theoretical framework used is the concept of maslahah{--}a principle of public interest that does not have an explicit textual basis but is recognized for its relevance in Islamic law as long as it does not contradict the Qur?an, Sunnah, and maqasid al-shariah. The analysis focuses on how Yusuf al-Qaradawi and Shalih bin Fauzan weigh the aspects of benefit (ma{\d s}la{\d h}ah) and harm (mafsadah) in the use of the stunning method. Based on the study conducted, this research shows that Yusuf al-Qaradawi tends to be contextual and flexible, emphasizing practical benefits for modern society, while Shalih bin Fauzan adopts a textual and cautious approach, prioritizing vigilance to avoid violating Sharia rulings. These differences stem from variations in their methods of legal reasoning (istinbat al-hukm) and their respective sociocultural backgrounds. This study affirms that the maslahah theory can serve as an important analytical tool in understanding and assessing contemporary issues, particularly regarding the lawfulness of animal slaughter using the stunning method.} }
