"This study examines the motives of social action as\r\nthe foundation of harmony in interfaith marriages in\r\nKalurahan Sumbermulyo, Bantul Regency. Interfaith\r\nmarriage remains a subject of debate, both in terms of\r\nreligious and state law, yet continues to occur within\r\npluralistic societies. Therefore, this research aims to\r\nidentify the factors that drive interfaith marriages and to\r\nanalyze the social action motives of couples in establishing\r\na harmonious family despite differences in religious beliefs.\r\nThis research is a field study with a descriptiveanalytical\r\nnature, employing a sociological approach. The\r\ntheoretical framework used is Max Weber's theory of social\r\naction, which consists of four types of action: rational\r\naction, value-oriented instrumental action, affective action,\r\nand traditional action. Data were collected through indepth\r\ninterviews with three interfaith married couples.\r\nThe findings indicate that the decision to enter into\r\nan interfaith marriage is predominantly influenced by\r\naffective motives, particularly deep emotional love between\r\nthe partners. Additionally, instrumental rational and valueoriented\r\nactions are considered in building a stable and\r\nharmonious family life. Traditional motives are reflected in\r\nlocal cultural values that uphold social harmony and\r\ntolerance. These findings suggest that social action motives\r\nplay a significant role in shaping and maintaining the\r\nharmony of interfaith families, even in the context of legal\r\nand religious dissonance."^^ .
