Interfaith marriage remains a subject of debate, both in terms of religious and state law, yet continues to occur within pluralistic societies. Therefore, this research aims to identify the factors that drive interfaith marriages and to analyze the social action motives of couples in establishing a harmonious family despite differences in religious beliefs. This research is a field study with a descriptiveanalytical nature, employing a sociological approach. The theoretical framework used is Max Weber's theory of social action, which consists of four types of action: rational action, value-oriented instrumental action, affective action, and traditional action. Data were collected through indepth interviews with three interfaith married couples. The findings indicate that the decision to enter into an interfaith marriage is predominantly influenced by affective motives, particularly deep emotional love between the partners. Additionally, instrumental rational and valueoriented actions are considered in building a stable and harmonious family life. Traditional motives are reflected in local cultural values that uphold social harmony and tolerance. These findings suggest that social action motives play a significant role in shaping and maintaining the harmony of interfaith families, even in the context of legal and religious dissonance.
