"The development of digital technology has changed the interaction patterns\r\nof children, especially Generation Alpha, known as digital native. UNICEF data\r\nshows that young children spend an average of 3-4 hours per day in front of screens,\r\nexceeding the WHO recommended limit, which has the potential to affect\r\ndisciplinary development. Various studies have discussed the influence of devices\r\non children's behavior, but specific studies focusing on parents' efforts to minimize\r\nthe negative impact on the discipline of 5-6 year-old children in rural areas are still\r\nlimited. This study aims to (1) determine the impact of gadget use on the discipline\r\nof children aged 5-6 years, (2) determine parental efforts to minimize the negative\r\nimpact of gadget use on children's discipline, and (3) determine the supporting and\r\ninhibiting factors of parents in efforts to minimize the impact of gadget use on the\r\ndiscipline of children aged 5-6 years. The research method used a qualitative case\r\nstudy approach. The research subjects were four parents of children aged 5-6 years\r\nin Sleman Regency. Data collection techniques used observation, interviews, and\r\ndocumentation. Data analysis was conducted using coding techniques, which\r\nincluded the stages of open coding, axial coding, and selective coding.\r\nThe results show that gadget use has positive impacts, such as increasing\r\ncreativity and access to information, but also has negative impacts on children's\r\ndiscipline, including decreased compliance with rules, reduced focus, and increased\r\ndependence on gadgets. Parental efforts include setting a usage schedule, direct\r\nsupervision, the application of positive and negative reinforcement according to\r\nSkinner's theory, and the habituation of authoritative parenting styles ala Baumrind.\r\nSupporting factors include parental awareness and environmental support, while\r\ninhibiting factors are parental busyness and inconsistent supervision.\r\nThese findings emphasize the crucial role of parents in shaping children's\r\ndiscipline in the digital age. The practical implication of this study is the need for\r\nguidance for parents in managing healthy device use in children aged 5–6 years.\r\nTheoretically, this study enriches the literature on the application of authoritative\r\nparenting styles in the context of digital parenting, particularly in rural areas."^^ .
