abstract: In Sufi tradition, the spiritual journey of a servant is generally divided into two main aspects: maqamat (spiritual stages achieved through effort) and ahwal (inner states granted by God). In the context of local society, the Maulid Dibai gathering at Majelis Nurut-Taufiq, Bowan Hamlet, Magelang Regency, represents a religious practice that is not merely ceremonial but also reflects profound spiritual values. This research aims to examine how the values of maqamat and ahwal are internalized through the Maulid ritual.

This study employs a qualitative descriptive approach with a field research design. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, while analysis was carried out using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, involving data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The analytical framework focuses on the methods of internalization expressed through habituation, role modeling, as well as emotional and symbolic-spiritual approaches that contribute to shaping the congregation’s spiritual awareness.

The findings indicate that the values of maqamat such as repentance (tawbah), detachment (zuhd), patience (sabr), gratitude (shukr), fear and hope (khawf and raja’), trust in God (tawakkul), love (mahabbah), and contentment (rida), as well as ahwal such as muraqabah–muhasabah, al-ishq, and al-uns, are internalized through the Maulid Dibai. This internalization is manifested in the transformation of attitudes and spiritual awareness among the congregation, including greater discipline in worship, heightened inner sensitivity, and deepened love for the Prophet Muhammad. Thus, the Maulid Dibai serves as an effective medium for the contextual transmission of Sufi values within the community.
