This manuscript is a religious artefact with high historical and cultural value, particularly in the context of the spread of Islam in the West Kalimantan region. The study aims to identify the forms of paratext present in the manuscript and analyse their meaning and function from a cultural anthropology perspective. The research method employed is descriptive-qualitative, using data collection techniques such as interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted by adapting Gerard Genette's paratext theory, expanded by Ricci for the context of manuscripts. The research findings reveal that the peritexts in this manuscript are divided into two main categories: punctuation marks (such as tajwid marks, scholia, and catchwords) and decorative ornaments. Although the ornaments are relatively simple without complex illumination, these elements have a strong didactic function, particularly in facilitating learning and text navigation. Pragmatically, the paratext serves as a medium for transmitting religious knowledge, while socioculturally, the manuscript functions as a symbol of the Islamic legitimacy of the Sintang Palace and a tool for affirming community identity. This study concludes that the Mushaf Al-Qur’an manuscript of the Al-Mukarramah Sintang Palace represents religious authority, the continuity of scholarly tradition, and the spiritual values of the local community. Its peritex elements are not merely supplementary but functional markers reflecting pedagogical objectives, social roles, and symbolic meanings within the historical context of West Kalimantan. These findings contribute significantly to the study of paratexts in Nusantara Qur’an manuscripts and efforts to preserve Indonesia’s religious cultural heritage. %K Manuskrip, Periteks, Identitas Fungsional %D 2025 %I UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA %L digilib73160
