abstract: This study aimed at knowing the role of the Pengkol Smart Village Hall Library to provide medium for community’s non-formal education. In this research. the researcher maintains her view that village library is a source non-formal education or life-long education for people which is not limited by time, age and social condition. This study used descriptive qualitative approach. The subjects of this study consists of library head, library staff, Pengkol village officials and Pengkol Village Library’s community of users. The object of this study is the role of Pengkol Smart Village Hall Library to provide medium for community’s non-formal education. The data collection method in this research consisted of a number of methods that is observation method, interview method and documentation method. Data validity testing was carried out with a credibility test that included observation extension, triangulation, using reference materials and conducting membercheck. Meanwhile data analysis technique in this research used Miles & Huberman model consisting of data reduction, data presentation and verification. The result of this research shows that Pengkol Smart Village Hall Library has a role in 1) providing medium for community’s non-formal education in the form of programs provided by the Pengkol Smart Village Hall Library tailored to the conditions and potential that exist in the Pengkol Village such as farming skills , crop harvest management as well as agricultural product marketing techniques and 2) the implementation of the role of Pengkol Smart Village Hall Library to provide medium for community’s non-formal education namely the implementation life-long education through autonomous learning ( self-taught ) for the community, the improvement of accessibility to information sources collection, knowledge and recreational activities for community, the provision of motivation and the guidance for village reading corner and the provision of encouragement as an effort to develop reading interest.
