%T ANALISIS KOMPETENSI PUSTAKAWAN DALAM PROSES PENENTUAN TAJUK SUBJEK KOLEKSI DI DINAS PERPUSTAKAAN DAN ARSIP DAERAH DAERAH ISTIMEWA YOGYAKARTA
%X This research aims to explore the competencies, challenges, and solutions faced by librarians at the Regional Library and Archives Department of the Special Region of Yogyakarta in the process of determining collection subject headings. The study employs a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data collection techniques included interviews, documentation, and observation. Data analysis follows Miles and Huberman's theory, which involves data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The validity of the data was tested using a credibility test, comprising increased persistence, source triangulation, and technical triangulation. The findings reveal that librarians must possess competencies in subject analysis and the selection of subject headings, which encompass knowledge, skills, and attitudes. The challenges and solutions identified include difficulties in identifying the core content of library materials, solved by discussions and reviewing previous work; language barriers, solved by seeking experts; challenges with specific discussions in library materials, solved by using alternative literature sources; difficulty finding the right diction in the subject headings list, solved by seeking equivalent terms; challenges in understanding subject headings related to information technology, solved by using the internet for clarification; rapid technological developments, solved by utilizing other subject heading lists; and inconsistency issues, solved by reviewing previous work, adjusting headings as needed, and forming a team of subject heading verifiers. Suggestions for librarians are correcting inconsistencies in subject headings in the OPAC, increasing the number of verifiers, and improving librarians' understanding of information technology.
