"This research is entitled Socialism in the Novel Al-'Aib by Yūsuf Idrīs (Analysis\r\nof Lucien Goldmann's Genetic Structuralism). This research aims to prove the\r\nexistence of the socialist movement found in the novel al-'Aib by Yūsuf Idrīs.\r\nAl-'Aib is a realism novel that describes the social conditions of Egyptian society,\r\nespecially in the government environment after the overthrow of King Faruk.\r\nDuring the transition period in Egypt's leadership, social conflicts between groups\r\nof people who were for and against the new government emerged, so that the\r\nnovel al-'Aib was considered a great work with a Marxist understanding.\r\nTherefore, this research uses genetic structuralism theory and the dialectical\r\nmethod. This research finds parallels between the structure of the novel and the\r\nstructure of society at the time the novel was created, bridged by the worldview of\r\nthe social group. This parallel is the conflict between the proletarian social class\r\nand the bourgeois social class. The proletarian social class consists of Sana'\r\n(government employee), Osama (student), Sana's Mother (housewife), and Hassan\r\nEffendi. The bourgeois social class consists of Jundi (senior employees/political\r\nelite), Bashkatib Effendi (office heads/political elite), and Ubadah (businessmen).\r\nThe social worldview that bridges these two structures is socialism, namely the\r\nstruggle of the lower classes to escape the pressure of capitalists. The form of\r\nstruggle that is based on the world view of socialism is the emergence of\r\nemployee and worker transformation policies and the Nationalization of the Suez\r\nCanal."^^ .
