This is due to the fact that women are often positioned as objects in literary works authored by men. The novel Ghar?miyy?t Sy?ri? al-A?sy? itself tells the story of the struggles of four female characters who dare to express their freedom in challenging the patriarchal culture in Saudi Arabia. Patriarchal culture remains a relevant issue in Saudi Arabia. However, as a female Saudi writer, Badriyah has succeeded in portraying a different image of women. Therefore, the theory used to analyze Badriyah's expression of women's freedom in Riyadh against patriarchal culture is gynocriticism. This research concludes that Badriyah, as a female author, has successfully positioned women as subjects in her works. This representation of women can be found in several gynocritical models, namely biology, language, psychology, and culture.
