        abstract = {This study was conducted to answer the diversity of interpretations of khamr from religious figures in Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta. The background of traditional educational culture greatly affects the diversity of interprtetation khamr of Islamic leaders in Sleman Regency. This research was conducted in Sleman Regency because it already has Perda number 8 of 2019 concerning supervision, control, distribution and prohibition of alcoholic drinks. The regulation was socialized leaders in Sleman Regency. Education both formal and non-formal, of religious figures will greatly influence the interpretation of khamr. The diversity of interpretations does not rule out the possibility of political, economic, institutional or personal interests of the figures. Based on this background, this study aims to investigate the background, process of interpretation of khamr and what factors cause the diversity of interpretations.
In this context, the study identified and analyzed two main problem formulations: (1) How do religious figures interpret the verses of khamr in the Qur'an? (2) Why it is different in Islamic leaders in the interpretation of the verses of khamr in Al-Qur?an? This study employed a qualitative approach, utilizing Hans Georg Gadamer's hermeneutical theory as a conceptual framework. Data collection methods included document study, interviews with relevant stakeholders, and participant observation. The results showed that in its interpretation found differences between one character and another. With the diversity above illustrates the differences in the perspective between the characters.
This study provides an important contribution to the understanding of the diversity of interpretations of khamr by religious figures in Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta. In addition, this study also provides new insights into the diversity of interpretations of khamr by religious figures with various arguments or reasons. Thus, this study not only provides a deeper understanding in the field of Al-Qur'an and Hadith Studies, but also provides valuable insights for the development of interpretations of khamr from a different perspective.}
