H. Ratno Lukito, M.A., DCL abstract: Most activities carried out in the digital era of Society 5.0 utilize technology and the internet in their implementation. As of August 2021, there were 202.6 million internet users in Indonesia, increasing to 204.7 million by January 2022. In parallel with the many benefits and conveniences offered by the internet, new vulnerabilities have also emerged, exploited by certain parties to commit crimes through the internet as a medium. Online fraud is one of the most common cybercrimes, employing various methods and schemes. As of March 2021, there were 3,500 reported cases of cybercrime, including 1,048 reports related to hate speech content, followed by 649 cases of online fraud. Other reported cybercrimes include pornography, illegal access, gambling, hacking, system disruption, interception (wiretapping), and more. Digital wallets (e-wallets) are one of the innovations that facilitate public transactions and fund transfers. However, alongside this development, new fraudulent schemes have emerged, particularly through social media platforms—one of which is the illegal e-wallet conversion service. These services offer to convert balances from one digital wallet application to a bank account or another platform, promising convenience and speed. In reality, this practice lacks legal basis and is highly vulnerable to fraud. This study aims to analyze legal protection for victims of online fraud involving illegal e-wallet conversion services. The research method used is normative juridical legal research with a statute approach by analyzing relevant laws and regulations. Data collection methods include documentation, interviews, and literature study. The results indicate that legal protection for victims remains suboptimal, both in terms of prevention and enforcement. The main challenges include the lack of specific regulations, difficulties in proving the crime, and limited responsiveness from law enforcement in processing reports quickly and decisively. Therefore, there is an urgent need to strengthen regulations and improve the performance of law enforcement officers in responding to online fraud cases. date: 2025-05-22 date_type: published pages: 122 institution: UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA department: FAKULTAS SYARI’AH DAN HUKUM thesis_type: skripsi thesis_name: other citation: Riska Dian Nurahman, NIM.: 18103040089 (2025) PERLINDUNGAN HUKUM TERHADAP KORBAN PENIPUAN MELALUI INTERNET CONVERT E-WALLET DALAM HUKUM POSITIF DI INDONESIA.
