It may occur in mothers who have children with intellectual disabilities (tunagrahita), as they face challenges related to their children?s future careers. If left unmanaged, such anxiety may negatively impact the mothers. Family social support is believed to be a factor associated with anxiety. This study aims to examine the relationship between family social support and maternal anxiety regarding the future careers of children with intellectual disabilities at SLB X. The research employed a quantitative correlational approach. The participants were 61 mothers of children with intellectual disabilities at SLB X Yogyakarta, selected through random sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires developed by the researcher, consisting of the Family Social Support Scale based on Sarafino & Smith (2017) and the Anxiety Scale based on aspects of Greenberger & Padesky (2016). Both instruments had been tested for validity and reliability. Data were analyzed using Pearson?s product-moment correlation, and the results showed a significant negative relationship between family social support and maternal anxiety (r = -0.418; p < 0.001). The findings indicate an effective contribution of 17,4%, while the remaining variance may be influenced by other factors beyond family social support. This research is important because similar studies are still limited, offering novelty, and contributes to psychological knowledge by highlighting the correlation between family social support and maternal anxiety concerning the future careers of children with special needs.
