This condition is particularly interesting to examine because harmony in a plural society does not occur automatically but is influenced by various factors, one of which is religious understanding. The aim of this study is to analyze the influence of religious understanding on the practice of interreligious tolerance in Yogyakarta. Religious understanding is measured through three main indicators: religious knowledge, religious practice, and religious experience. This research employs a quantitative survey approach, with data collected through questionnaires distributed to 362 respondents selected using Cluster Random Sampling. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS version 22 for Windows with regression tests to measure the relationship and influence between the variables. The findings reveal that the indicator of religious knowledge contributes 50.2\% to tolerance practices, religious practice contributes 34.7\%, and religious experience contributes 40.7\%. Overall, the variable of religious understanding shows a positive and significant effect on interreligious tolerance, with a contribution of 81.5\%. These results indicate that the higher the level of religious understanding among Yogyakarta?s residents, the higher their level of tolerance in social life. This study emphasizes that deep religious understanding not only shapes individual religiosity but also has a strong social implication in fostering coexistence and maintaining harmony within a multicultural society.} }
