"Gen Z lives in a fast-paced, critical, interactive, and technology-based\r\ndigital era. However, the intensity of technological exposure makes them vulnerable\r\nto character shifts, particularly in aspects of spirituality and morality. Meanwhile,\r\nthe pesantren tradition preserves classical Islamic texts that emphasize the\r\nstrengthening of spirituality and morality. These well-tested classical treasures hold\r\ngreat potential for character formation, thereby requiring a compromise between\r\nthe values of classical texts and the modern learning styles of Gen Z students. One\r\nsuch text is Tījān Ad-Darārī, which serves as a bridge to address the challenges of\r\nthe digital era so that Gen Z students may maintain strong religious character amid\r\nthe currents of socio-cultural change. This research analyze the process of\r\ninternalizing Islamic educational values through Tījān Ad-Darārī in shaping the\r\nreligious character of Gen Z students at Pondok Pesantren Diponegoro Yogyakarta.\r\nThis study employs a qualitative approach using field research and content\r\nanalysis methods. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and\r\ndocumentation. Triangulation techniques including source, method, and time\r\ntriangulation were used to ensure data validity. The research was conducted at\r\nDiponegoro Islamic Boarding School Yogyakarta with KH. M. Syakir Ali as the\r\ncaretaker, Ustadzah Nay as the instructor, and five Gen Z students as participants.\r\nData analysis followed the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, which\r\nincludes data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing.\r\nThe research findings indicate that: (1) The selection of Tījān Ad-Darārī is\r\nbased on a systematic approach as a classical work within the recognized Islamic\r\nintellectual tradition, which is not only theoretical but also practical in shaping\r\nreligious character. It is supported by both rational (‘aqli) and textual (naqlī)\r\nevidences, introduces comprehensive concepts of monotheism (tawḥīd) and creed\r\n(akidah),that align with the critical and reflective nature of Gen Z students. (2) The\r\nIslamic educational values contained in the text include the values of akidah (faith\r\nin the obligatory attributes of Allah and the Prophet), ʿibādah (devotion to Allah),\r\nakhlāq (honesty, trustworthiness, conveyance, and intelligence), as well as the\r\nvalues of tasāmuḥ (tolerance), tawassuṭh (moderation), and tawāzun (balance),\r\nemphasizing harmony and moderation. (3) The internalization process occurs in\r\nthree stages value transformation, value transaction, and trans-internalization\r\nusing contextual and modern methods. The results have shown positive changes in\r\nstudents’ religious character, both in belief and daily behavior within the pesantren\r\nenvironment. The internalization of Islamic educational values in Tījān Ad-Darārī\r\nnot only preserves the classical Islamic scholarly tradition but also effectively\r\naddresses the need to build strong religious character among Gen Z in the modern\r\nera."^^ .
