The respondents were 116 student boarders. The data obtained were analyzed using simple linear regression. The results showed that, overall, parent attachment was not significantly related to either expressive suppression or cognitive reappraisal emotion regulation strategies. However, attachment to the mother had a significant positive relationship with cognitive reappraisal ability, while attachment to the father did not show a significant relationship with either emotion regulation strategy. These findings emphasize the importance of emotional attachment to the mother in supporting the ability to manage emotions, especially through cognitive reinterpretation, while the use of strategies to suppress emotional expression is more influenced by psychological and cultural factors in pondok pesantren mahasiswa. This study recommends strengthening the emotional relationship between parents, especially mothers, and children, as well as exploring other factors that influence emotion regulation in santri students in their early adulthood.} }
