I., M.Si %T TAHAPAN KOMUNIKASI INTERPERSONAL PENGASUH DENGAN ANAK ASUH TUNAGRAHITA DALAM PENGENALAN KESENIAN GAMELAN (Studi Deskriptif Kualitatif Panti Asuhan Bina Siwi Pajangan Bantul) %X This research aims to analyze the stages of interpersonal communication between caregivers and foster children with intellectual disabilities at the Bina Siwi Orphanage in Pajangan Bantul, in introducing them to gamelan. This practice represents a form of preserving local culture by the Indonesian people. Bina Siwi Orphanage is an orphanage that has successfully introduced foster children with intellectual disabilities to gamelan. This successful introduction to gamelan is achieved through several stages of interpersonal communication between caregivers and foster children. This study uses interpersonal communication theory with the concept of interpersonal communication stages, which explain two stages: the Coming Together stage, which includes initiation, experimentation, and intensification. The Relational Maintenance stage, which includes integration and bonding, is also discussed. This study employed qualitative methods with a descriptive approach. The subjects were three gamelan caregivers. The results indicate that interpersonal communication between caregivers and foster children with intellectual disabilities in introducing gamelan occurs in stages, starting with the introduction stage, followed by an exchange of topics, and a mutual understanding. Finally, both parties make a commitment to each other, ultimately determining the terms and conditions.
