Parents play a crucial role in this regard, as they are the first role models a child encounters. Family parenting styles significantly influence a child's growth and development, particularly in the formation of their character. Every parent wants the best for their child, which then becomes the basis for parents to form their own parenting style. In fact, not all parents know and understand what a good parenting style should be for their children, so many parents are unaware of their parenting style or the various actions they take towards their children. Therefore, the role of parents has a major contribution to child development, especially cognitive development. This study aims to determine whether parenting styles influence the cognitive development of early childhood according to the perceptions of parents at State Kindergarten 2 in Yogyakarta. This study is quantitative in nature and has two variables, namely parenting style as the independent variable and cognitive development as the dependent variable. The researcher took 75 parents of children at State Kindergarten 2 Yogyakarta as respondents. The data collection technique was field research, which was conducted using an online questionnaire (survey) processed using Microsoft Excel and SPSS version 27. The results of the study show that the Kruskal-Wallis analysis yielded a {\ensuremath{\chi}}? value of 7.28 with a df value of 2 and a p-value of 0.026 (0.05) and an {\ensuremath{\epsilon}}? value of 0.0983, which means that it can be concluded that there is a difference in the influence of parenting styles on cognitive development. In addition, the results of the descriptive analysis show that based on the mean value, democratic parenting has a greater influence on cognitive development at 76.0 compared to authoritarian parenting at 71.1 and permissive parenting at 69.3. Thus, the parenting style that has the most influence on cognitive development is democratic parenting.} }
