BANTUL)"^^ . "The phenomenon of divorce in society indicates that many couples are still\r\nnot fully prepared to enter married life. A lack of understanding regarding the rights\r\nand obligations of husband and wife, weak communication skills, and limited\r\nmental readiness often become triggers for conflicts that lead to divorce. On the\r\nother hand, the increasing awareness of the importance of premarital education has\r\nbecome a positive step in helping prospective couples build a sakinah (harmonious)\r\nfamily. To address this issue, the Ministry of Religious Affairs organizes a marriage\r\nguidance program as an effort to equip prospective brides and grooms with the\r\nknowledge and skills needed to build a harmonious household. This study focuses\r\non the role of marriage guidance in building a sakinah family at the Office of\r\nReligious Affairs (KUA) of Imogiri District, Bantul Regency.\r\nThis research is a field study employing a qualitative descriptive-analytic\r\napproach. Primary data were obtained through observations and interviews with\r\nKUA officers and participants of the marriage guidance program, while secondary\r\ndata were collected from official documents, legal regulations, and relevant\r\nliterature. The theoretical framework used is Biddle and Thomas’s Role Theory,\r\nwhich explains how a program’s role is implemented in accordance with\r\nexpectations, norms, actual practices, and community evaluation.\r\nThe results show that the implementation of marriage guidance at the KUA\r\nof Imogiri District has been carried out in accordance with the regulations of the\r\nMinistry of Religious Affairs, including the duration, material, facilitators, and\r\nmethods that have been applied as stipulated. The program functions as a means of\r\neducation and guidance covering essential aspects of family life. This role is\r\nreflected in the provision of religious knowledge that instills Islamic spiritual and\r\nmoral values, strengthens communication skills, conflict management, and\r\nenhances the mental and emotional readiness of prospective couples. From the\r\nperspective of Role Theory, the marriage guidance program at KUA Imogiri has\r\nbeen implemented in line with community expectations, as it helps prospective\r\ncouples improve their preparedness for married life. The program also adheres to\r\napplicable regulatory norms, demonstrated by its structured implementation in\r\nterms of duration, methods, materials, and facilitators, and has received positive\r\nresponses from participants. Participants acknowledged that the program provides\r\ntangible benefits in increasing their readiness to build a household. Thus, the\r\nmarriage guidance program not only serves as a preventive measure against divorce\r\nbut also functions as an important instrument in strengthening family resilience and\r\nrealizing a sakinah, mawaddah, wa rahmah family."^^ .
