%T PERAN BIMBINGAN PERKAWINAN DALAM MEMBANGUN KELUARGA SAKINAH (STUDI DI KANTOR URUSAN AGAMA KEC. IMOGIRI KAB. BANTUL)
%X The phenomenon of divorce in society indicates that many couples are still
not fully prepared to enter married life. A lack of understanding regarding the rights
and obligations of husband and wife, weak communication skills, and limited
mental readiness often become triggers for conflicts that lead to divorce. On the
other hand, the increasing awareness of the importance of premarital education has
become a positive step in helping prospective couples build a sakinah (harmonious)
family. To address this issue, the Ministry of Religious Affairs organizes a marriage
guidance program as an effort to equip prospective brides and grooms with the
knowledge and skills needed to build a harmonious household. This study focuses
on the role of marriage guidance in building a sakinah family at the Office of
Religious Affairs (KUA) of Imogiri District, Bantul Regency.
This research is a field study employing a qualitative descriptive-analytic
approach. Primary data were obtained through observations and interviews with
KUA officers and participants of the marriage guidance program, while secondary
data were collected from official documents, legal regulations, and relevant
literature. The theoretical framework used is Biddle and Thomas’s Role Theory,
which explains how a program’s role is implemented in accordance with
expectations, norms, actual practices, and community evaluation.
The results show that the implementation of marriage guidance at the KUA
of Imogiri District has been carried out in accordance with the regulations of the
Ministry of Religious Affairs, including the duration, material, facilitators, and
methods that have been applied as stipulated. The program functions as a means of
education and guidance covering essential aspects of family life. This role is
reflected in the provision of religious knowledge that instills Islamic spiritual and
moral values, strengthens communication skills, conflict management, and
enhances the mental and emotional readiness of prospective couples. From the
perspective of Role Theory, the marriage guidance program at KUA Imogiri has
been implemented in line with community expectations, as it helps prospective
couples improve their preparedness for married life. The program also adheres to
applicable regulatory norms, demonstrated by its structured implementation in
terms of duration, methods, materials, and facilitators, and has received positive
responses from participants. Participants acknowledged that the program provides
tangible benefits in increasing their readiness to build a household. Thus, the
marriage guidance program not only serves as a preventive measure against divorce
but also functions as an important instrument in strengthening family resilience and
realizing a sakinah, mawaddah, wa rahmah family.
