abstract: This study aims to identify and analyze the phenomenon of Spotify Mod app usage among students in the Faculties of Sharia and Science and Technology. This study employed a qualitative research method with a descriptive-analytical approach. Data were obtained through interviews and questionnaires with students in the Faculties of Sharia and Science and Technology who use the Spotify Mod app.
The results indicate that Spotify Mod app usage among students in the Faculties of Sharia and Science and Technology is influenced by factors such as ease of access, music quality, and affordable subscription fees. However, Spotify Mod app usage also has negative implications, such as copyright infringement and a negative impact on the music industry.
This study also shows that students in the Faculties of Sharia and Science and Technology have varying perceptions about Spotify Mod app usage, with some students viewing it as inconsistent with Sharia principles.
Therefore, this research can contribute to policy development and public awareness regarding the importance of supporting the music industry through legitimate means and understanding the social implications of using illegal streaming apps.
